October sees London’s iconic Somerset House showcase the first solo exhibition in the UK of the late Malian photographer, Malick Sidebé. Sidibé is celebrated for his black and white images chronicling the lives and culture of the Malian capital, Bamako, in the wake of the country’s independence in 1960. The exhibition presents 45 original prints from the 1960s and 1970s based around the themes of: Tiep à Bamako / Nightlife in Bamako, Au Fleuve Niger / Beside the Niger River, Le Studio / The Studio.
Our friends at Darkroom have curated an exclusive retail space to run alongside the much anticipated exhibition, inspired by Africa, Mali and Sidebé’s work. Larke frames and sunglasses in limited acetates can be found in good company, sitting alongside an edit of specially sourced handmade jewellery, textiles, homewares and a selection of rare vinyl.

LARKE’s collaborative eyewear series with Turnbull & Asser continues for another season, the latest sunwear offering ‘Roark’ was showcased alongside their Spring Summer 2017 collection during London Collections: Men this weekend.
The suitably opulent Christie’s HQ on Ryder Street served as the ultimate backdrop to showcase ‘Velocity: The Heir and Hero’. The collection for the forthcoming summer season steers full throttle back to the ritzy heydays of 1970s Monte Carlo where inspiration was sourced in the prowess and infamous revelry of Grand Prix playboy victors on and off the prestigious Circuit de Monaco.
‘ROARK’ sunglasses are exclusively available online and in-store at Turnbull & Asser.
LARKE’s collaboration with womenswear designer Holly Fulton continued this season with a second series of eyewear debuting at London Fashion Week this weekend. Drawing inspiration from visionary British artist David Inshaw, the painters graphic mossy aesthetic and penchant for the surreal was a clear presence in the collection. Our bold, linear RADUS handmade frame was showcased in an exclusive colour palette of dirty pink, cream, gloss black and earthy green, and fitted with contrasting sports luxe mirror sun lenses – another key theme present throughout the winter seasons collection namely in outerwear and knitwear pieces.
London Collections: Men AW16 saw the reveal of our latest collaborative project with luxury gentlemen’s outfitter Turnbull & Asser. With a shared ethos for manufacturing in England and fastidious craftsmanship, the exclusive eyewear series made its debut at Turnbull & Asser’s LC:M presentation alongside their Autumn Winter 2016 collection entitled ‘The Artist and The Architect’ at the prestigious RSA Vaults in central London.
Hailed by British GQ’s editorial team as one of ‘The best looks from the LC:M AW16 catwalks’, Turnbull & Asser’s literary inspired collection of formal and informal attire is the ideal sartorial accompaniment for the four exclusive eyewear designs.
